The first thing that impressed us about Chill Out Hut was the attention paid to décor. From the semi-outdoor thatch covered bar area to the sea-facing cabanas and dining tables, it was obvious that the owners wanted to create a first-class dining and hangout spot that had cool, casual relaxation written all over it.After walking around a bit and admiring the setup, we finally sat down to order. The menu was fairly decent in terms of variety. It featured soups, salads, the usual seafood and chicken dishes that you'd find at similar casual dining joints, kid-friendly menu items and a few “Italian-inspired” dishes.
Our party ordered the Garlic Shrimp, Parmesan Chicken and Fried Fish. The waiter was very pleasant and courteous but the wait was long. We waited more than 45 minutes to be served. When the food finally came though, it was nicely garnished and looked delicious! The Garlic Shrimp (served with mashed potatoes) did not disappoint, neither did the Parmesan Chicken. I was expecting the Fried Fish to be done Jamaican-Escoveitch style, it wasn't, but it was still fairly good.
All in all it was a good meal, and as night fell we saw the place transform from a family-friendly, daytime beach joint to a romantic, candlelit seascape.
We'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a casual dining spot with a really nice ambiance. Just remember to not wait until you're starving before you show up, there might be a bit of a wait.
