After reading and hearing about Bolts place me and my Sigodder decided to give it a try for our regular Saturday eat out. On entrance was the usual greeter ushering you to the section of the restaurant that they were using that day…I guess easier for the wait and serve staff…. I was trending right but she kept going left, however we relented.
We sat taking in the nice sports bar type ambiance, lots of screens and a big not 2 clear one but to the food we must go.
Menu cards were a bit worn I guess heavy rotation the cause plus; I had to whip out the glasses in the dim lighting. Nice combination on offer and opted for Pineapple Juice which was stale/off… and the replacement Pepsi was flat… so it was water instead. Guinness Draught was served cool in a cold glass…. I had to mention that fact to the server who offered no alternative, now this is where my impressions of the whole experience starts to go south so we opted to play it safe and order things they could not get wrong.
Pan Chicken was way above standard one of the best “in restaurant” I have tasted in a long time the only drawback was the Plantain Chip…It was not crisp and a bit “tuff” but the Mango Chutney saved that for us. That dish was very good and satisfying for my Sigodder she gave high marks.
Curried Mutton. Now I get weary when Jamaican food establishments don’t call it curried goat…and I was right, a failure in my book… Come on this is Countryman international star Jamaican Bolt’s Place They should never get the un official national dish so wrong. The rice was a bit on the salty side, the “mutton” served on the side in a little pot was cool but un- palatable...like it was micro-waved, out of the fridge. It nuh ready at all. Plantain was also tuff Mango Chutney was good.
We did not opt for any deserts simply because the table was lacking in a desert menu, a serious mistake many eateries commit. They need to get their customers mouth watering by sight of the “Corn Pone” for impulse buying, remember people order dessert and extra drinks when they are satisfied with the main course.
In short I maybe back…hope they will improve.

Dishes Ordered: Pineapple Juice
Pepsi
Guiness Draft
Water
Curried Mutton
Pan Chicken
